Discover the quiet beauty of hand quilting in this beginner-friendly weekend workshop with fiber artist Casey Engel. Over two relaxed sessions, you'll create a one-of-a-kind mini napkin quilt while learning the foundational techniques of traditional quilt making through a slow, intuitive approach.
Each participant will begin with a vintage linen napkin, transforming it into a small heirloom through layering, hand quilting, and binding. Rather than focusing on perfection, this workshop celebrates the creative process—inviting you to experiment, trust your instincts, and enjoy the meditative rhythm of stitching by hand.
Whether you've never picked up a needle or you're looking to reconnect with quilting in a fresh way, you'll leave with both a finished piece and the confidence to continue exploring this timeless craft.
In this workshop you'll learn:
- The fundamentals of quilt layering
- Basic hand quilting techniques
- How to bind and finish a mini quilt
- Principles of intuitive design and composition
- Tips for beginning larger hand quilting projects at home
What's Included
- A vintage linen napkin to use as the foundation of your quilt
- Quilt batting and backing materials
- Thread and shared sewing supplies
- Step-by-step instruction throughout the weekend
Students are welcome to bring favorite fabric scraps or meaningful textiles if they'd like to incorporate them into their quilt.

Time: Saturday 10am-1pm and Sunday 4:30-6:30pm
Location: Grow Creative Studio inside the Historic Sacred Heart Building in East Hill, Pensacola Studio 233

This workshop is designed for adults and beginners are warmly welcome. Ages 12+ are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
