Mondays Melodies in Motion - Moving to the Classics for ages 6+

This class is eligible for PEP reimbursement, but not direct pay at this time.

Step inside the music and experience it with your whole body.

“Melodies in Motion” is a playful, immersive class where students will explore beautiful pieces of music from different eras, from Baroque to Impressionism, through movement, storytelling, imagination, and hands-on creativity. We will be moving to the classics. 

This is not your typical music class. Instead of sitting and learning about composers, children will become part of the music itself. One week we may dance with scarves to a flowing melody, another week we may create simple props, act out a musical story, or discover how a piece of music makes us feel before learning who composed it.

Along the way, students will naturally be introduced to musical concepts such as tempo, melody, form, dynamics, and rhythm while also learning bits of history about famous composers and the worlds they lived in.

This class encourages curiosity, creativity, confidence, and joyful expression while helping children build a lifelong relationship with rich and beautiful music.

Each week includes:

• Opening circle time with a song, poem, piece of art or story 

• Movement activities using scarves, parachutes, and other handmade props

• Exploration of a featured composer or musical era

• Introduction to musical concepts through play

• Creative projects and imaginative expression

• Closing reflection and sharing with others the joy of music

All materials are provided and included in the cost of the class.

Time: Mondays from 4:45–5:45pm

Please note: Refunds are available up to one month before the start date. After that, only partial refunds can be offered due to materials being purchased. Enrollment is a commitment to the full session, and payments are expected even if a student withdraws.
