Paper is humble, magical, and endlessly transformable. In this 10 week class, children will slow down and build a deep relationship with paper through folding, cutting, weaving, measuring, sculpting, and making—from the sheet to the finished form.
Rooted in handwork traditions and inspired by the Charlotte Mason method and Waldorf-style learning, we will explore origami, paper sloyd, paper making, collage, and simple book arts, while developing fine motor skills, spatial awareness, patience, and care for materials. Each lesson builds gently on the last, allowing skills to grow through repetition and meaningful projects.
Additional inspiration will come from poetry, nature-based origami, and tactile supplements like beeswax modeling, form drawing, and simple loom weaving to support rhythm, coordination, and creativity.

Handmade paper and paper mache from recycled scraps

Paper collage using handmade papers

Paper sloyd skills: measuring, folding, precision, and tool use

Origami fundamentals and projects (including frames, boxes, and cranes)

Paper beads and decorative techniques

Zine-making and simple bookbinding

Mindful making through repetition and practice
This class is perfect for children who love to make with their hands, enjoy stories, and are ready to practice focus, care, and creativity.

Dates: 10 weeks - Begins February 25th and ends on 5/6 (No class on 3/18)
Location : Grow Creative Studio - inside the Historic Sacred Heart Building
