Maybe you need a little project that helps you meditate, because meditation is hard. Maybe you can get lost in doing something repetitive with your hands and your mind can finally relax. Maybe you can do this project to help you transition from work to wonder.
Paper Meditation Project
Supplies Needed
+ Watercolor paper + Paintbrush
+ Watercolors (steal some from your kids if you don't have any)
+ Scissors
+ Masking Tape
+ Begin by painting your page with whatever colors feel good to you right now. Maybe choose warm or cool or use the same color and go from light to dark. This projects can work with any color combo so it's up to you to play. I find that I really like the color variation of light/dark when weaving together the pieces.
+ Now cut your paper into thin strips, these don't need to be perfect! Mine are about 1/4" wide and not at all straight.
+ Line up 10-12 strips and tape them to the table with masking tape. Make sure they are pretty close together -- and again -- this doesn't need to be perfect. Let yourself fall into a rhythm and weave more strips in a simple over/under pattern. Until you've used all your strips or until you feel satisfied with the shape.
+ Remove the masking tape and trim all the ends with your scissors. I like the edges to be uneven and organic -- you might like perfectly trimmed edges. Do what makes you happy!
+ Admire how beautifully the colors came together and the lovely texture of the paper. And if you were following the directions step by step for the first one, give yourself permission to do another without the directions. Turn on some music and go with it.
+ If you'd like to, frame it because it's so beautiful!
