Created to Create

Remember, your creativity is alive and well.

Creativity isn’t just the ability to draw, dance, write or paint. Creativity is a posture toward life.

Creativity is staying open, being curious and using your imagination to find new and original ideas.

Have you noticed how all of our cities are beginning to look the same? That intricate detail and craftsmanship are traded for factory line design? Isn't it strange how arguments are mostly about being right and never about solving the problem? And how creation is all about sales and not at all about serving people's needs or being innovative?

Creativity was low on the list in our education systems that were designed to turn out factory workers. And creativity is the #1 skill we need to both survive in an ever changing world AND to save the world and our place in it.

As capable adults, it’s our job to re-educate ourselves in creativity. This can feel foreign to us and just plain silly. It can feel unproductive and full of shame. A lot of the time, it’s embarrassing. And absolutely necessary.

There is hope! Just by giving this intention some attention, you will begin to lean in.

You’ll begin to ask, “How can I promote creative living in my own life and those around me?”

It’s as easy as going back to those few things above like a check list : Am I staying open? Am I being curious? Am I using my imagination? Am I generating new and original ideas? If not, can I take a moment to think for myself? To quiet the voices around me and use my own creativity to come up with something on my own? (This is difficult in a world of Google and Pinterest!) All of this takes practice — you are relearning a skill — and this skill will lead you deep into your own vitality.

Here at Grow Creative, we can help! With curated workshops and creative tools we aim to make it easy, joy-filled and fun to bring your attention back to cultivating the ever important skill of creativity.

By making the time and space to engage in creative projects that ask you to

  • tune into your heart
  • find your natural flow + rhythm
  • engage your creative thinking
  • learn something new and
  • lean into beginner's mind

You will be well on your way to strengthening this ever important creative muscle. And as a bonus, you will have the opportunity to practice authentic self expression and make something beautiful with your own two hands.
